Well TG has been back on our TVs for several weeks and I haven't seen a single comment on the new format?

Is the silence indicative of how poor viewers think of the show and that they dont think its even worth the effort to put their thoughts on the interweb?

Servicing Prices Change

Just a heads up -

Don't really know when this happened but the service prices appear to have been changed again

Intermediate service prices has gone up across the board.

However, it seems that the Full service prices have changed according to mileage and are no longer the same! For example, the price of a Full service at 20k is different to that at 40k!

241 Extended Warranty deal ending?

Hello all,

While my car was at the dealer last week, I overheard some of the service guys tell another customer that Lexus is possibly ending its 2 years for the price of 1 offer on its extended warranties.

I asked what was going on, and was told that they had received an email from head office telling them that it was coming to an end in December, but then another saying that it was going on for now in February.   He said that he wasn't sure what was happening, but the current plan is to end it at some point soon.

What I was wondering is if anyone else had heard it mentioned at their dealers?

I am sure I am not the only one who would consider it uneconomical to have to pay the same amount every year as I current do for 2.  As such, this has me slightly worried since having a warranty on mine has proved good value for money, and it gives me peace of mind.

Sold my Prius and went Electric... kinda.. :)

Hello guys,

As my Prius was reaching to 170.000 miles , I thought best is to sell it and move on to something newer and more efficient.

I had a test drive of a Nissan Leaf ('16 plate Tekna model 30Kw) Nissan lent it to me for 6 days, the seller was surprised as I had done 750miles! while I had it lol.

Although it is a lovely car to drive (expect to be shot down in flames by some with the comment lol) It was not for me when it came to long distance driving which I have to do 4 times a week more less.

So since I had the electric taste... I now wanted an electric. A tesla is out of the question ... as they are expensive. Now with regards to PCP or Lease plans especially on very fast depreciating electric car prices. No dealership wanted to even discuss any plan as my average work mileage is more less 40,000 t0 45,000 miles per year.

So back to the drawing board I had to buy a "low-ish mileage car" new enough and also at a good price so I will not loose much after a couple of years.

And here I am I came across the Vauxhall Ampera's ideas ... but again they were kinda expensive (ish) they did cost about 11K for a decent spec model and age. Which is similar price for a Prius Plug In. But the Prius eehmmm is useless on electric range and power .. when it comes to compare it with the Ampera. However when it comes to long distance the Prius has advantage on motorway consumption.

So I then came across to the one I bought a late 2012 Chevrolet Volt , which is the same as the Ampera (but I kinda like more the styling). So I get a fully electric car with more power than the Prius... but with less motorway consumption once the battery is gone.
However as the car has the same working theory for the batteries as the Lexus and Toyota hybrid models, the batteries are kind of bullet proof. (water cooled).

I had it now 1month and already done 4,500 miles with the car. And I love it.
I know I bought an electric car in the wrong time of the year... cold and freezing temperatures do no favour to the battery range. But I know at least it can only get better as the temperatures rise.

The benefits for London having an electric with a range extender (27g of CO2) is congestion charge excepmt. But also having a membership with source london means I can park in various by the road locations and with £2.14 per hour I have electricity and "free street parking" now that is a benefit for London use.

I still have about 40.000miles of warranty left for the high voltage components and powertrain or just under 4yrs. So really pleased with the car.

It has a couple of things I need to sort out such as condensasion on the rear light and alloy wheels pitting (who said this is only on japanese cars?) lol.

Here are some pictures below, I wanted to share with you :)

Cheers

Vasilis.

Genuine Lexus Remote Key gloves: where to buy?

$

Hello,

I'm desperately looking for a pair of OEM key gloves to fit the remote key of my 2016 CT 200h.

Premise: I'm from Italy.

Searching through the web I found that there are two types of gloves:

- Standard with Lexus logo:

$_57.JPG

- With the "F" logo and blue stitching:

$_57.JPG

Now the problem is that these products are only available on ebay (actually on amazon uk you can find a pair of standard ones but they're way too expensive and they don't ship in my country) mostly sold by Americans Lexus dealerships or accessory sellers. No traces of these gloves in Europe.

The price is roughly $10 for a pair of standard gloves o a single F glove, which is nice, but I have to pay $22 for international shipment expenses hopefully included taxes and expenses.

Do some of you guys know where to buy these gloves inside Europe? My dealer is not selling this kind of accessories, it's like I can't buy an accessory from who makes both my car and the accessory itself.

Thank you in advance for your help.

A great explanation of how the Atkinson cycle works, something else I was unaware of until I came to a hybrid car...

Here's a more "scientific" explanation ...

This guy has shed light on how the whole E-CVT transmission works for me. At last I can visualise the system and have a feeling of what's going on when I press the Go pedal.

Probably been shown/discussed before but it works for me, so thought I'd share :wink3:

And this video explains the evolution and rationale behind it's development.
